Day - 40 The House of Seven Gables

More gable ends and rafters were constructed today. Most of the work done above the existing house to connect the new rafters to the existing roof. Also they framed in the rafters for the...wait for it...I have wanted to post about this for weeks...wait for it... Overbuilt Cricket. Leave a comment on the blog here if you know what I am talking about. The first one to guess (google) correctly wins an authentic 1920s cedar shake (slightly used, shipping not included). More lumber was delivered today, I almost forgot to mention it because new supplies are always showing up on site. The full dumpster was also exchanged for an empty one. One thing I want to mention is the fact that O'leary Cole does not use anything cheap. They are overbuilding most everything and the materials are made to last. I am very content with the work so far. There are too many examples of quality craftsmanship to even mention. I may do a blog post some time just to talk about how well things have been put together. OK, more outlets and wires were run today; even a few on the main level. One little issue we had was that our Air conditioner was not working when we arrived home on Wednesday night. Thursday morning the electrician found that a screw (his fault admittedly) had nicked the control wire and made the fix quickly and easily. It didn't even get above 77 in the house, without ac, overnight, in July. Not bad, to say the least. We did make a decision to move forward with the stone fireplace and we decided to increase the size of the gas insert to 42 inches. This is going to be the star of the family gathering area. Thanks for reading.
